Bean Sprout Baby
- Introduction
Bean Sprout Baby is a pillow filled with bean sprout husks used for newborn babies/infant. This method of making pillow has been over a century, as far as our great grand parents can remember.
These bean sprout husks are the "shell" (kernel) from the bean sprout we bought for our cooking. With proper handling and sorting, they are recycled for better usage. |
|
Why
Newborn babies/infant are very prone to be shocked or frightened by sudden movement and noise caused in their surrounding. When they are shocked or frightened, they will feel a lack of security and will keep crying, easily agitated, difficult to handle and maybe a sleepless night. With such shocked and fright over time, they will become less confident and clinging more to their mothers (more dependence). |
 |
Application & Advantages
By placing the bean sprout pillow horizontally over the infant/babies tummy when they are asleep, they will have a sense of security and comfort. This pillow will serve to calm the newborn babies/infant as such that they will not need to be swaddled to fell safe and warm. As the bean sprout husks are porous and light weighted, they are safe for use on newborn babies/infant. In addition, these bean sprout pillows are cooling too.

The collected bean sprout husks are first being pored into our custom-made gigantic trays for filtering. First level of filtering is to filter away the husks and the smaller objects/items (commonly are the bean sprout roots) so that the bigger objects/items (commonly are the bean sprout itself) are separated. The second level of filtering is to filter away the smaller objects/items (bean sprout roots) and so we have the bean sprout husks itself.
These filtered bean sprout husks are then passed to our team of workers for sorting. They will remove whatever which are unable to be filtered away among these bean sprout husks and thus, keeping these cleanly sorted husks. |
The Process
The bean sprout husks are collected, filtered, sorted and treated daily. Over 50kgs are collected for sorting and treatment daily. |
 |
 |
These bean sprout husks are then divided into many custom-made trays for "sun-baking". They are left in the sun for drying until they turned more solidify (a bit of crispy too). The dried husks will then be left in a cool dry place for cooling and final sorting before filling into the pillows.
Although the process is very tedious but this inheritance from the old is very effective and worth keeping.
